Body of murdered teenager Becky Watts must be identified by its DNA, an inquest into her death has heard.
Becky, 16, disappeared from her Bristol home in February and dismembered body parts found 11 days later.
The investigation into his death has been opened and adjourned while the criminal process, which involves a step-brother, took place.
Nathan Matthews, 28, face a single count of murder step-brother, while his girlfriend Shauna Hoare, 21, was accused of misleading the court of justice. Jaydene Parsons, 23, James Ireland, 23, and Karl and Donovan Demetrius, both 29, were accused of helping the perpetrators.
Ms. Watts lived with his father Darren Galsworthy, and stepmother, Anjie, before she disappeared from their home in St George, Bristol, on February 19, his disappearance sparked a large search.
The remains of a teenager was found 11 days later on March 2, at a home in Barton Hill area of town three miles away.
The examination in Flax Bourton in Somerset did not give a cause of death of a teenager. None of the family of Ms. Watts' present.
Neil Deborah coroner told the court: "His death was confirmed on March 3 by a pathologist. He was identified by DNA.
"The situation is that Rebecca's brief reported to the police as a missing person.
"He was later found at an address in the Barton Hill. He underwent post-mortem examination at Flax Bourton and people since been charged in connection with the murder."
Avon Coroner Maria Voisin postponed until the examination results of the criminal process. He said the case will be reviewed in August.
A funeral for teens will take place on April 17 at the Church of St. Ambrose in the Whitehall area of the city. Community members have raised almost £ 5,000 towards the cost of the funeral.
A notice published in the Bristol Post said the church reserved for family and close friends but the service will be forwarded to the mourners outside. After that there will be a private family funeral.
Mr. Galsworthy and his wife Anjie said in a statement: "Becky was preparing for adult life; he has so much to look forward to and are happy to share with all of those near and dear to him.
"We will miss him very much.
"All of us as a family, including those who knew Becky would like to express my most sincere gratitude to everyone who donated towards this day.
Becky's death has touched the hearts of many people; some from as far away as the other side of the world.
"We never expected that response, but we are very grateful for your thoughts, prayers and donations.

"It is because of your support that we know today would be a fitting tribute to a much loved daughter, grand-daughter, sister, niece and friend to so many people.
"We ask your cooperation with regard to the final laying to rest in the cemetery Becky.
"We want this to be a very private and out of public view, enabling us to say our last goodbye as we lay to rest."
Matthews, from warmley, South Gloucestershire, appeared at Bristol Crown Court on March 26, along with five others charged in connection with the death.
His girlfriend, Shauna Hoare, 21, of Cotton Mill Lane, Bristol, was accused of misleading the course of justice by lying to the police.
Jaydene Parsons, 23, James Ireland, and Karl and Donovan Demetrius, both 29, are accused of helping to remove and hide the body parts Becky.
A plea hearing has been set for 4 August with a trial date as October 5. All six defendants have been remanded in custody.quoted from dailyymail
